In 1987 the company began development of one of the first multi-channel trunking systems in the United Kingdom, this unique invention allowed multiple customers groups voice communication over long distances utilizing any number of radio frequency channels

In 1989 we patented the system and registered the trade mark “Trunklink” shortly after, OFCOM (then the Department or Trade and industry – Radio communications Agency) formally approved “trunklink” for installation into the United Kingdom and Codercom where granted, itself, one of the first Private Mobile Radio (PMR) Trunking licenses.

This development went hand in hand with Codercom’s core business of the supply hire and maintenance of two-way radio.

In addition to operating our own Trunking System, with a growing blue chip customer base, our activities had not gone unnoticed within the industry itself and during the next 10 years we had supplied and installed systems to communications companies in the United kingdom Africa and Eastern Europe Including 6 systems to the Royal Navy at Devonport.

With the advent of Cellular phones in the late 1990’s PMR took a back seat as the general public, business and to a degree OFCOM saw cellular phones as the solution to all their communications problems.

Over the following 5 years it became obvious that local disasters overloaded a national system resulting in commerce looking again to PMR for security.
